During the westward expansion of a young America, the great fortunes of the coming Industrial Age were being amassed. The Napoleonic era in Europe resonated with Americans who were also expanding our Empire. Americans interpreted the furniture styles more simply and with more substance, but were true to the classic Roman and Greek roots.
